Domaine Gallety

Domaine Gallety makes the best wines of this tiny appellation at the northern end of the southern Rhône. The father and son duo have been tending their vines organically since the early 1980s and their wines rank alongside the top Côtes du Rhône Villages estates.

History

The Gallety family acquired their estate, in the characterful Ardèche village located within the commune of Saint-Montan, in 1974.

The 80 hectare estate was initially made up of vines, fruit trees, forest and scrubland, but was restructured for the production of wine. A colossal amount of work went into the selection of grape varieties and the establishment of a struct cultivation method. Today, the vineyard represents 15 hectares of vines.

The hills the vineyards were planted on run down the western flank of the Rhône, just south of Montélimar, and mirror those of the Côtes du Rhône on the opposite bank of the river, but are cooler and wetter with a longer ripening season. Their state-of-the-art winery was constructed right into the hillside below their high-altitude vineyards.

For more than 30 years, Alain and his son David-Alexandre have agreed around a common passion: the love of wine.

Wines distinguished by the meticulous selection of grape varieties in order to obtain unique marriages with fine and concentrated aromas. Their production reflects the terroir and its riches, with the greatest respect for the environment (organic and biodynamic).

In accordance with a qualitative approach, each stage of the production of the wines is meticulously monitored and controlled, from manual harvesting to bottling.
