Description

Astrolabe Marlborough Pinot Noir 2020

Astrolabe Marlborough Pinot Noir is a captivating and elegant red wine that exemplifies the renowned Marlborough region's ability to produce exceptional Pinot Noir. With its alluring aromas, complex flavors, and skillful craftsmanship, this wine offers a delightful journey for the senses.

Grape Varietals & Region: Astrolabe Marlborough Pinot Noir is crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes sourced from select vineyards in the Marlborough region of New Zealand. The cool climate and diverse soils of Marlborough create ideal conditions for growing expressive and nuanced Pinot Noir. Southern Valleys (55%), Awatere Valley (32%) and Kekerengu (13%), Marlborough, New Zealand.

Taste Profile: This Pinot Noir showcases the classic characteristics of the varietal with a Marlborough twist. It displays a beautiful ruby-red color and entices the nose with aromas of ripe red berries, cherries, and hints of spice. On the palate, the wine unfolds layers of flavors, including red currants, black cherries, earthy undertones, and subtle oak notes. The silky-smooth tannins, vibrant acidity, and harmonious structure contribute to a long and satisfying finish.

Winemaking Process: Hand-picked fruit was de-stemmed, crushed and cold soaked for five days then fermented at warm temperature with wild yeast in small open-top vats. Traditional submerging of the ‘cap’ by hand-plunging was followed by a light pressing. The pinot noir was then aged in French oak barriques for 10 months.

The winemaker behind Astrolabe wines is dedicated to showcasing the unique characteristics of Marlborough's terroir in every bottle. With a deep understanding of the region and a passion for crafting exceptional wines, the winemaker's expertise and commitment shine through in each vintage.
