Galicia, Spain

Galicia is a region in the northwest of Spain, known for its green landscapes, rugged coastline, and unique grape varieties. The climate is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and is generally cool and wet, making it a challenging environment for winemaking. However, the region has a long history of wine production, dating back to Roman times.

The most well-known grape varieties in Galicia are Albariño, Godello, Mencia, and Treixadura, which produce crisp and refreshing white wines and bold and spicy red wines. The wines of Rias Baixas, located in the south of the region, are particularly famous for their Albariño wines, which are crisp, aromatic, and often with a salty tang. The wines of Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras are also noteworthy, producing both red and white wines with a distinct minerality and freshness.
